Apricots

In a study to test the ability of apricots to treat cancer, a concentrate from Japaneese appricots was tested against three types of colon cancer. The results showed that apricots cause apoptosis of mutated cells.

Like the other stone fruits, Apricots are high in Vitamin C. Fresh apricots also contain more vitamin A than any other fruit. This makes for a double whammy against lung cancer, mouth cancer, and cancers of the intestinal tract. Both vitamins also work to protect the skin from sun and environmental damage by

reducing wrinkles and helping the body to form collagen, which supports the skin and keeps bone joints working smoothly. Carotenes in the Vitamin A help maintain good vision and Zeaxanthin in Vitamin C absorbs into the retina and filters UV radiation, protecting against macular degeneration.

The phytochemicals in Apricots also prevent heart disease and control blood pressure.
